The Divine Feminine: A Journey of Trust and Surrender
Trading the hustle and grind mentality in favor of deeper trust in your own design and the universe’s plan for you.
When I was 19, I was a high school drop out. I came from humble means and my family always struggled to stay afloat. But one day, I ignited a fire under my own ass. I made a firm declaration that I would rise above and live a good and fulfilling life.
Fast forward to me hustling my ass off by getting into nursing school, working as a nurse for 8 years, and continuing to strive and push for promotions. “If I just make $20,000 more a year, I’ll be free!”. I continued to strive for promotions, raises and more opportunities to climb the patriarchal ladder.
I progressed quite high in my career as a nurse, and even found myself landing an interview with a car stipend, bonuses, and wining and dining big wig Chicago doctors. I went through a rigorous interview process of more than 7 interviews, to make it to the final interview of “why should we pick you” only to find the next day, they gave the job to someone else.
After this happened, I watched my entire self worth dissolve. I had whored myself out for this job I thought was going to “save my life” and all I was left with was feeling taken advantage of and defeated.
What the hell happened? This was THE path, wasn’t it? The path towards liberating me from the burdens that plagued my family. I was wrong. I followed a dead end.
But it took me hitting rock bottom to realize that I needed to forge a new path. The patriarchy’s path? Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. So I said to myself, there has to be another way to liberate myself from this loop of validation and need for external forces to make me feel whole—to which it never did, btw.
And here I am today, writing this article in the same room I liberated myself from when I was 19, with a dollar to my name, but now paving my own path. Because what I realized was there IS indeed a new way, and that’s surrendering to the Divine Feminine or Goddess Path.
This path will not have you grind or hustle. It will not have you avoid. It will make you face everything that stands in your way of achieving your own success; slowly but surely releasing you of the need to control and receive external validation, slowly tempting you into surrendering to a greater purpose and greater plan.
In this article, I will take a deep dive into divine feminine principles and how, more than ever, they are crucial to liberating us from the oppression of our current systems.
The Slow Burn of the Patriarchy
It’s no surprise anymore that we’re all being squeezed by the patriarchy. Burnout has never been higher, mental health crises are rampant, many people are struggling to financially provide, and the systems and institutions are overtaxed and overburdened.
We continue to look towards our political candidates to solve these problem, but even our current presidential candidates have an err of defeat. Their once enthusiastic promises to save America and return its value has faded into a slow fizzle of defeat and apathy.
People are waking up to the fact patriarchy has failed us, indeed. I myself have even found myself desperately clinging to these systems to ail my current financial woes. But all I am met with is red tape, bureaucracy, broken links, long callback times, and a sense of desperation to “survive”.
It is quite clear that nobody is coming to save us. At least not from our current vantage point. But ah, this is where the matriarchy steps in—the rise of the divine feminine.
The Matriarchy: A Legacy of Wisdom and Leadership
Back in the day, do you remember when Hillary was running against Obama, and the common discord was “she’s a woman, she can’t lead; she’s too emotional”? That sure didn’t age well, did it?
This belief was rooted in falsity and ignorance, as there actually have been societies—notably ancient Egypt and other African societies who have had incredibly successful matriarchal reigns.
Hatshepsut, one of my favorite examples of a successful matriarchal reign, comes to mind alongside Cleopatra. As a full-fledged pharaoh in the New Kingdom of 15th century BC in Egypt, she led with unwavering conviction and devotion to her goddess, the divine feminine, Isis. With her unshakeable faith, she achieved remarkable feats, including the construction of magnificent temples like Karnak. She was not only a skilled military strategist but also established numerous fruitful trade routes. Most importantly, she was revered as the people’s queen, ruling with compassion, fairness, and inclusivity. During her reign, many women held high-ranking political and religious positions—a true testament to her commitment to empowering her female subjects.
So, how did a woman match the greatness of her male counterparts? She enveloped herself in her own spiritual union with the goddess, Isis. She balanced her masculine-dominated position with the essence of femininity that is Isis—one of nurture, wisdom and compassion. While Hatshepsut was incredibly intelligent and strategic, it was not her analytical abilities alone that made her a powerful leader, but her ability to tap into the power of manifestation, surrender, and the secret wisdom of the universe that made her successful.
By embracing the qualities of Isis, Hatshepsut was able to balance her masculine and feminine energies, making her a truly holistic leader. She understood that true power does not come from dominance and control, but in balance and harmony with the natural laws of existence. Her merging into a spiritual union with Isis allowed her to have access to the power of the divine feminine, which she then infused into her decisions and actions (masculine qualities). This fusion of logic and intuition; strategy and spirituality made her a truly remarkable leader; one who was able to bring peace, prosperity and greatness to her people.
Now Let’s Get a Little Woo-Woo Up in This B*tch
So, who was this Isis that was able to make such significant impact in Hatshepsut’s life and kingdom?
Isis is an Egyptian goddess and is often depicted as the universal symbol of the divine feminine. Her essence represents the cycles of life, death, and rebirth, and she has been woven into the fabric of Egyptian culture and mysticism. She is a goddess who embodies compassion, nurture, protection, and also magic, intuition, and transformation. By tapping into the consciousness of Isis, Hatshepsut was able to lead with wisdom and guidance, allowing her to achieve greater heights of clarity and purpose.
Whether you believe Isis to be a literal goddess or a symbolic archetype of the divine feminine, her presence is undeniable. She speaks to the part of us that desires connection, greater meaning, and the mystical and mysterious of life. Through her guidance and grace, we can tap into the power of our own wisdom, intuition, and creativity—embracing the magic that has been lost in our lives.
I have been consciously working with the goddess for 2 years now, and through my journey with her, I have come to understand that the depth of my wisdom is boundless and my intuition is an incredible force not to be disrespected or dishonored. Her presence in my life has been a gentle, yet potent force, encouraging me to take leaps of faith and to trust in the unfolding of my path. With her and other goddesses by my side, I have felt confident to reject powers that seek to oppress me, speak my truth, embody my femininity, and trust in the great unfolding of my path. She has taught me that the divine feminine is not just a mere concept, but a living, breathing presence that can guide and support us on our journey of self-discovery and transformation.
Enter Balance and Harmony
Now, I’m not going to lie, I like to blow sh*t up, and a part of me wants nothing more to see the patriarchal systems that oppress people plummet and crumble. Buttt, that is not the solution. Tearing apart these systems or letting them crumble would only lead to more discord, disharmony and imbalance. Instead, the divine feminine would infuse compassion, intuition, wisdom and nurture into the fabric of these systems that exist. The divine feminine principle is not focused on gain or profit, but humanity, kindness, and inclusivity. Imbibing these divine feminine principles would encourage collaboration over competition.
And I don’t know about you, but I could certainly use an extra dose of compassion in society right now.
By embracing the divine feminine, we can:
Tune in to the whispers of the earth and honor her rhythm and cycles
Create economies that value people and the planet, not just profit and growth
Cultivate emotional intelligence, and embrace our vulnerabilities as strengths
Celebrate individuality and release ourselves from the shackles of conformity
Weave a web of community where EVERYONE has a place and a voice!
Together, we can create a world where we:
Heal the wounds of the past and restore balance to our relationships
Create systems that nurture and support, rather than control and dominate
Embrace the beauty of diversity, where we can celebrate our differences
Find freedom in our true selves, and finally live authentically and unapologetically
This is a vision where the divine feminine is not just a concept, but a living, breathing reality that guides us towards a bright future A future where we can thrive, live in harmony, create magic, and embrace each other and the earth.
